Flavorful, smooth, slightly translucent glaze great for decorating cookies or drizzling over other desserts.
Icings, Frostings, and Glazes
Icings, frostings and glazes have three purposes. The most obvious is to make your cookies prettier. Secondly, they will give a subtly-flavored cookie a bit more flavor, especially if the icing in question is something like a chocolate glaze or cream cheese frosting. Thirdly, depending on the recipe, they add another dimension to the texture of the cookie. Almost any cookie or dessert can be taken to the next level with a drizzle of some kind of glaze on it. Feel free to experiment!
Colored Cream Dough
This is a decorative dough that is piped on like frosting but baked right into the cookie.
Cream Cheese Frosting
Cream cheese frosting is more tangy and less sweet than buttercream.
Brown Sugar Icing
An icing or glaze made with brown sugar. Ideal for donuts or bundt cakes.
Powdered Sugar Icing II
A simple icing for decorating cookies or drizzling over cakes.
An opaque icing that dries to a hard, matte finish.
This easy, shiny glaze is great for dressing up any cookie.
Browned Butter Frosting
Browned butter gives this frosting a rich, toasted flavor.
Stable “Buttercream” Frosting
Shortening makes the frosting more stable if cookies are going to sit out a while.
