An icing or glaze made with brown sugar. Ideal for donuts or bundt cakes.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cups dark brown sugar, packed

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted (measure first, then sift)

Directions

  • Place the powdered sugar in a medium bowl; set aside. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, stir brown sugar, heavy cream and butter until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved. Increase heat to medium-high, bring to a boil, and boil for 3 minutes, stirring. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the bowl with the powdered sugar and whisk to blend. Use it to glaze your cake, donuts or cookies. It will firm up within an hour.
