Browned butter gives this frosting a rich, toasted flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 2-1/2 cups powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 tablespoons milk

Directions

  • Heat butter over low heat until delicate brown; remove from heat. Mix in powdered sugar. Beat in vanilla and milk until smooth. If necessary, stir in additional milk, 1/2 teaspoon at a time, until spreading consistency. Frost cookies and store tightly covered.

This is the BEST frosting for cookies out there. Bar NONE. If you make it properly, it is wonderful!! I make it each year, and I get asked for the recipe! I use salted Land O' Lakes butter, it does make a difference. Try this recipe. It may need just a bit more milk. I just add a TB. until it is the proper consistency. MY KIDS LOVE THIS FROSTING!!! (And I have NINE Of them, so that's saying something.) ;)

This frosting has minimal ingredients & turned out a nice cream color & texture. The taste was light & worked very well with the sugar cookies I made it for. Instructions were easy to follow & this recipe is very quick to make!
