Course: Hand-Shaped CookiesDifficulty: Easy

Soft, buttery cookie topped with cinnamon sugar.

  • 1 cup butter or or solid vegetable shortening

  • 1-1/2 cups granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar

  • 1 teaspoons baking soda

  • cinnamon and sugar mixed to taste (about 1/4 cup sugar to 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon is a good mixture)

  • Preheat oven to 400F. Mix together butter and sugar until smooth, then add eggs, cream of tartar, and baking soda. Stir in flour until well mixed. Roll into balls about 1″ in diameter and roll in cinnamon and sugar to coat. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake 8-10 minutes. Cookies are done when they are just barely browning.

This is a very good recipe. I will make these again, However, I will add more Cinnamon to the Cinnamon Sugar mixture that the cookies are rolled into before baking. I will probably increase it to 1 tablespoon instead of the 1/2 tablespoon. My husband loved them but wishes they had more Cinnamon taste. Happy Baking....

I was expecting more out of this cookie, not really the best in my opinion. Hopefully others like them better then I did!

These are the BEST Snickerdoodles I have made by far. They turned out nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I will be using this recipe from now on!
