Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons shortening

  • 1-1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

  • 1 cup butterscotch morsels


Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Cream shortening and sugar, add the rest in given order. Grease a 9″ x 13″ baking pan. Pour batter into pan, and bake 25 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes and then cut into squares.

I think there is an ingredient missing in this recipe, something liquid. The directions say to "pour" batter into pan. The "batter" was barely moist from the eggs and vanilla, and I molded it into the pan. It did not rise and get thick and it was dry and crumbly, and hard to cut out of the pan. I think it would have been good if all the ingredients were included.
