Chocolate Spritz

Makes about 60

1-1/4 cups butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cups cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 375 F. In a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer, beat butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Gradually stir flour mixture into butter mixture. Shape dough into a log and place in your cookie press. Press cookies out onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Note: Decorate with sprinkles, candied cherries, melted white chocolate, or sandwich with vanilla frosting.

Made these with my 3 year old son...he can't get enough of them! He has also been a great helper and the cookies have all come out gorgeous and yummy. I baked them at 10 minutes and when fresh, they're still a little soft. Definitely a tasty chocolate recipe! five stars

i am going to be making these again very soon!! I added about half a teaspoon of peppermint extract and wound up with a delightful chocolate peppermint sprits cookie. That is the only thing special i did. this recipe lends itself to more complex creations. five stars

They were quick to mix up with my stand mixer and the time consuming part was reloading my cookie press. They are yummy but not too sweet. four stars
