Oats, carrots and molasses treats for your equine friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dry oatmeal

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup shredded carrots

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup molasses

Directions

  • Mix ingredients in bowl as listed. Preheat oven to 350F. Make little balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

I actually make these for my dogs (3 Irish Setters) because they LOVE carrots! I've made other kinds too, but these are the ones they beg for everytime!

My horses love them! I've made them a couple times for the horses and have started to make bulk batches. They go nuts for these cookies!

I doubled the recipe for my greedy herd, added 2 tbsp flax, a bit more oil and molasses to allow the balls to stick together better, then flattened them into cookies. I had to bake them 5 minutes longer. Our ponies and horses love them.
