A quick and easy recipe for homemade hot chocolate using cocoa powder, chocolate and milk. Rich and creamy!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa

  • 4 tablespoons semisweet chocolate — shaved or chopped

  • optional garnishes: whipped cream, cocoa powder, shaved chocoate, mini marshmallows, cinnamon sticks, candy canes

Directions

  • Put all ingredients in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Place pan over a medium flame; bring milk to a simmer, stirring constantly. Do not let the mixture boil. Remove from heat when the chocolate melts. If desired, serve each mug with optional garnish of your choice.

I do not make this one with the chopped up chocolate. IT still turns out great!

This is a simple and easy recipe for yummy hot chocolate! To dress it up a bit, we like to add a splash of Bailey's Irish Cream or other liqueur. Grand Marnier and Chambord are also delicious with it.
