A creamy iced coffee beverage for a crowd, with chocolate and ice cream, topped with whipped cream. This Mocha Punch is generally served cold, but you can serve it heated also (see note*). Can be doubled or tripled if you have a large enough pot!
Ingredients
1-1/2 quart water
1/2 cup instant chocolate drink mix (ie. Quick)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup instant coffee granules
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
1/2 gallon chocolate ice cream
1 cup whipping cream
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
chocolate curls
Directions
- In a large sauce pan bring water to a boil. Remove from heat; add drink mix, sugar and coffee; stir until dissolved. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. About 30 minutes before serving, use an electric mixer to whip the whipping cream with the tablespoon of granulated sugar, set aside. Pour the punch into a punch bowl. Add ice cream by scoopfuls; stir until partially melted. Garnish with dollops of whipped cream and chocolate curls.
Notes
- * To serve heated Mocha Punch, you can make it the day before (do not put in the ice cream) and on the day of serving, heat it in a crockpot/slow cooker so that it will stay hot throughout the party. Do NOT add ice cream to the pot, but rather add a small scoop to each individual serving has been ladled out. This article has several ideas on how to keep ice cream cold at a buffet/party.
