A creamy iced coffee beverage for a crowd, with chocolate and ice cream, topped with whipped cream. This Mocha Punch is generally served cold, but you can serve it heated also (see note*). Can be doubled or tripled if you have a large enough pot!

  • 1-1/2 quart water

  • 1/2 cup instant chocolate drink mix (ie. Quick)

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup instant coffee granules

  • 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream

  • 1/2 gallon chocolate ice cream

  • 1 cup whipping cream

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

  • chocolate curls

  • In a large sauce pan bring water to a boil. Remove from heat; add drink mix, sugar and coffee; stir until dissolved. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. About 30 minutes before serving, use an electric mixer to whip the whipping cream with the tablespoon of granulated sugar, set aside. Pour the punch into a punch bowl. Add ice cream by scoopfuls; stir until partially melted. Garnish with dollops of whipped cream and chocolate curls.

  • * To serve heated Mocha Punch, you can make it the day before (do not put in the ice cream) and on the day of serving, heat it in a crockpot/slow cooker so that it will stay hot throughout the party. Do NOT add ice cream to the pot, but rather add a small scoop to each individual serving has been ladled out. This article has several ideas on how to keep ice cream cold at a buffet/party.

I made this to serve at a housewarming, wedding reception and then again at our church at a reception for our new preacher. I made 7 punch bowls at the last reception with only a cup to spare to send home with the preacher!! It's always a big hit and everyone wants the recipe.

I think is a very inviting drink to serve on a cold, snowy day, especially to anyone who can't get enough chocolate! :-)
