Send to a friendPreheat oven to 350 F. Cream softened butter with the flavorings. Beat in the sugar, then mix in the egg. In a separate bowl, stir the flour, nutmeg, and salt. Mix with the butter/sugar mixture. Shape the resulting dough into snakes about 1/2 inch in diameter, and cut the pieces to 3 inches in length. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for 12-15 minutes. Thank you so much for having the nutmeg logs recipe on the internet. My mother used to make them every Christmas when I was young and we lost her Pillsbury cookie cook book. I would love to get another one. These cookies are the best!

My mother-in-law has been making these for over 50 years, and she passed the recipe on to me several years ago. These are THE best, most festive looking Christmas cookies I have ever made. The family loves them, and they are very popular when we serve them at holiday parties. Thank you for posting this terrific recipe!

My Mother made this recipe also. It was from a small Pillsbury cookie book. I misplaced it and was happy to find this on line. My Daughter, Sister and Niece came over for our annual cookie bake and were so happy that I had the recipe.
It was wonderful, certainly will make it again and again.
