This quick little recipe/craft produces adorable little ghosts made with the peanut-shaped Nutter Butter cookies (or any other oblong cookie, see note*), dipped in white candy coating, with mini chocolate chips for eyes. The kids will have a great time with this!
Ingredients
12 ounces white candy melts or vanilla candy coating
32 peanut-shaped Nutter Butter cookies (if these cookies aren’t available in your country, or you can’t eat peanuts, see note, below*)
1 heaping tablespoon miniature chocolate chips
Directions
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or waxed paper. In the top of a double boiler over hot (not boiling) water, melt the candy coating until smooth. Dip cookies into the candy melts to create the “ghost”. Place on prepared baking sheet and immediately top with chocolate chip “eyes” while the candy coating is still melted. Repeat until all cookies have been dipped. Allow the candy coating to cool and harden before serving.
Notes
- * If you can’t get Nutter Butter cookies in your country, or need to avoid peanuts, try any other oblong or oval cookie that is somewhat ghost-shaped, such as Pepperidge Farm Monaco or Milano cookies, Keebler and Sunshine Vienna Fingers, Nabisco Cameo cookies. I am sure there are others. (If you have a peanut allergy I do not know if any of the cookies just named come from a peanut-free facility, please do your own research!) If you know of others, please let us know in the comments below!
