“Slutty Brownies” are the 2011 creation of The Londoner (although that seems to be in some dispute), and in the 10+ years they’ve been online they have achieved some notoriety as perhaps the most decadent brownie imaginable…and the shocking name I am sure helped along that image! It is a chocolate chip cookie base, topped with Oreo cookies, topped with brownie batter. Below is basically The Londoner’s original recipe, but with extra tips and information that are missing from the original post, and several variations.

The original recipe uses packaged cookie mix and brownie mix. See the notes below on how to make this with your favorite homemade chocolate chip cookie and brownie recipes.

Ingredients

  • For packaged mix version
  • 1 box of your favorite chocolate chip cookie mix. The original Londoner recipe uses a 400g box, which is smaller than the boxes available in North America. If you have a 1lb 1.5-ounce box (17.5 ounces, 496g), you won’t use all of it

  • 1 box of your favorite brownie mix, for a 8×8 or 9×9 baking pan

  • ingredients necessary to making the box recipes above

  • For homemade version
  • your favorite Chocolate Chip cookie recipe, or mine

  • your favorite brownie recipe, or mine

  • For both versions
  • 1 teaspoon water

  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

  • 16 Oreo cookies

Directions

  • Instructions for packaged mixes
  • Pre-heat the oven to 350F and line a 9×9-inch cake pan with parchment paper. A 8×8-inch pan will also work but you will bake it a little longer.
  • Prepare chocolate chip cookie mix as directed, but add an additional 1 teaspoon water and 1 teaspoon oil. Take note of the size of your package. In North America, this is generally 1lb 1.5 ounces (17.5 ounces, 496g), so the North American package is larger than the package originally used by The Londoner. If this is the case for you, pat about 4/5 of this dough into the bottom of the prepared 9×9-inch pan. Discard the rest, although I suggest you bake a couple cookies on the side with that! You can of course use the whole thing; it might have to bake slightly longer. If you have the 400g package (or two 200g packages), you will use the whole thing.
  • Top the cookie dough layer with one layer of Oreo cookies, placed as close together as possible but not on top of each other. You will need about 16 for a 9×9-inch pan.
  • Prepare brownie mix as directed. Pour on top of the Oreo layer.
  • Bake about 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or, for more gooey brownies, with a couple of moist crumbs. Since different brands and combinations may bake up differently, start checking at 30 minutes.
  • Instructions for homemade batter
  • For the chocolate chip cookie layer, you can use your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, or you can use my favorite one. Add in 1 teaspoon of water and 1 teaspoon of oil to make them a bit more wet (or twice that if your recipe is huge). Depending on the size of your recipe, you may not use the whole thing. For the Slutty Brownies, use enough to pat about 1/2 inch into the bottom of your pan, and I am sure you can figure out what to do with the rest!
  • Again, for the brownie batter, use your favorite brownie recipe, or my favorite one, for an 8×8 or 9×9 pan. If your recipe is for a 9×13-inch pan, you will use a a tiny bit more than half of it.
  • Since the amount of total batter may be different from the packaged mix recipe, keep an eye on them so that they don’t overbake. Start checking them sooner for doneness!
  • Variations
  • For Christmas Slutty Brownies use sugar cookie mix on the bottom, but stir in a heaping tablespoon of red and green sprinkles. Top with Gingerbread Oreos. After you have poured on your brownie mix, sprinkle the top with additional red and green sprinkles. You may also be able to find the holiday edition of Funfetti Brownie mix with red and green sprinkles.
  • For Peanut Butter Slutty Brownies use peanut butter cookie mix and Peanut Butter Oreos. After topping with your brownie batter, heat 1/3 cup peanut butter in the microwave until runny, and drizzle it over the brownie layer. Swirl with a knife. Proceed as normal.
  • For Midnight Mint Slutty Brownies, use Double Chocolate cookie mix, Mint Creme Oreos, and Dark Chocolate brownie mix. Unwrap 14 Andes Mint candies and chop coarsely, sprinkle top of brownies with chopped mint candies immediately upon removing from the oven. The heat will melt them in a bit. Or, if you can find it, omit the Andes Mints and use the Mint Chip brownie mix.
  • For Carrot Cake Slutty Brownies, use oatmeal cookie mix and Carrot Cake Oreos. Top with Cheesecake Swirl brownie mix.
