Make these every year for a friend's cookie exchange, always a big hit! 5 stars

As written above, these are only lightly spiced. If you are looking for a stronger, more traditional Lebkuchen, flavor, you need to increase the spices. The above review is right about the icing. A light lemon glaze is add so much to the cookie. 3 stars

I followed the advice of adding a little cinnamon to the glaze and am very happy I did. Two words of advice - COVER the dough before you put it in the fridge, and don't skip glazing the cookies. I asked my 11-yr-old to put it in to chill, but didn't specify it had to be covered. Had a little trouble muscling the cookies through the press as a result, but the end result didn't appear to suffer. Tried the cookies both before and after glazing, and they went from "meh, these would be okay as tea biscuits", to "ZOMG". Am adding this recipe to my yearly "must make" list. 5 stars

I've been making these for 3 years. They have a nice spice flavor. I dip them in the icing, rather than piping. If little ones are around, I have them shake colored sugar on them before the icing dries. 5 stars

These are my son's favorite holiday cookie. I double all the spices though, and add a teaspoon of rum to the icing. 4 stars

Make sure you bake them until they are brown on the edges. When they are "just" done or a bit underdone, they aren't very good.
Still, just OK, for me. I'm still looking for that *GREAT!!!* spritz cookie recipe.

Really good cookies even when you forget the vanilla. I added a little bit of cinnamon to the glaze! 5 stars

This cookie was very easy to make and it had just the right amount of spice.

I piped the glaze onto the cookies which was OK. Next time I will try dipping the cookies in the glaze as the previous reviewer suggested.

This recipe was very easy. And the cookies had just the right amount of spice. Next time I'll try dipping them in the glaze. 5 stars
