1 cup shortening (half Crisco, half margarine)
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons ammonium carbonate (ground finely)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup grated angel flake coconut (packed)
Mix all ingredients together. Roll into small balls. Space apart a good distance on your cookie sheet (these really spread). Bake at 300 degrees (F) for 20 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar when cooled.
