Powdered Sugar Icing II

1 cup of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon melted butter
milk
food coloring (optional)

In a bowl, combine the powdered sugar, vanilla, and melted butter. Stir well. Then add milk 1 teaspoon at a time until the frosting is of desired consistency to frost cookies. If you make it too thin, you can add one tablespoon of powdered sugar at a time. Add several drops of desired food coloring and stir well.

Note: Submitted by Tammy Davis who says: "This is great for frosting sugar cookies at Christmas. I make about 10 dozen cookies for Christmas as gifts. I make about 8 or 9 different colors of frosting and add sprinkles. This is the easiest and best tasting frosting for sugar cookies. This recipe is about 50 years old and has been used in my family for generations."

The vanilla made the frosting off-white and it still just tasted...well, just sweet. I'm not crazy about this icing. two stars

This is the best sugar cookie icing recipe I have found yet. Others are just way too sweet. The butter totally makes this! Merry Christmas! five stars

The same recipe's been used in my family since at least my grandma. I LOVED this as kid. We put the leftovers on saltines after we iced the Christmas cookies. We used to beg my mom to make it. Yummy! five stars
