The Neiman-Marcus Cookie

This is the recipe circulated in the well-known urban legend. We won't perpetuate the myth here, but the recipe really is great.

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
2 1/2 cups blended oatmeal (blend in a blender to a fine powder)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
12 oz. chocolate chips
4 oz. hershey bar (grated)
1 1/2 cups chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Add chocolate chips, hershey bar, and nuts. Roll into balls, and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 or 11 minutes.

I have made this cookie many times and my fiance says it is the best cookie he has ever had. I didnt realize that there were so many other people that have tried this "fake neiman marcus cookie recipe" as I call it. I just tried it one time and this year cuz I am low on money that is what everyone is getting for Christmas. Cookie Baskets. five stars

I made these cookies this morning as an early start to Christmas baking. I was so disappointed, they are dry and much more work than they are worth. They are not the real recipe from Neiman Marcus and shouldn't use the name as it is misleading. three stars

Brilliant! Choc. chips are hard to get in Holland so I just chopped/shaved a 2oz bar of extra bitter (65%) cacao choc. bar getting a combo of chunks and shavings. Also used pecans instead of walnuts. A definite for Christmas. five stars
