1/2 cup shortening
1 2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/3 cup milk
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
2 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, and milk. Stir in melted chocolate. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually stir into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Chill 2-3 hours. Preheat oven to 350 F. Form into 1" balls. Roll in powdered sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet 2-3" apart. Bake 15 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool.

Would make this again.
These were very good tasting. I also topped the cookie with half a candied cherry which added another texture and taste and looked more Christmasy.
Would make this again,but I rolled them into 1/2" balls which were just a nice bit size.

this cookie was realy good they had a nice texture and they didn't last long as they were eaten within seconds

Would not make this again.
These were the worst cookies that I have ever made! They looked awful and tasted not so great either. I have never thrown out a batch of cookies before, but I couldn't get these in the compost bin fast enough.
