Chocolate Coconut Bars


Makes about 24

4 cups crushed graham crackers
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 cups shredded coconut
1 (13-ounce) can evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup slivered almonds
12 oz. chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350F. Mix graham crackers, butter, and powdered sugar. Pat into the bottom of a 9"x13" pan. Bake 10 minutes. Mix coconut, milk, vanilla, and almonds. Pour over crust and bake 10 minutes at 350 F. In a double boiler over low heat melt chocolate chips and spread on top of bars. Cool. Cut into squares.

The layers separated after cooking so was useless to serve! It was all crumbling. A waste of time. 1 star

this recipe called for evaporated milk, but I think it should say condensed milk. 1 star

It looks to me like the recipe has a mistake in it. Probably the evaporated milk should really have said CONDENSED MILK. 5 stars
