6 tablespoons shortening
1-1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1 cup butterscotch morsels
Preheat oven to 350F. Cream shortening and sugar, add the rest in given order. Grease a 9" x 13" baking pan. Pour batter into pan, and bake 25 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes and then cut into squares.

Would not make this again.
I think there is an ingredient missing in this recipe, something liquid. The directions say to "pour" batter into pan. The "batter" was barely moist from the eggs and vanilla, and I molded it into the pan. It did not rise and get thick and it was dry and crumbly, and hard to cut out of the pan. I think it would have been good if all the ingredients were included. 1 star

for the person who said they will not make these because they have no butter.... they are called BUTTERSCOTCH not BUTTER this recipe sounds great I plan to make it tomorrow and if it bothers you that much such substitue 6tbsp of butter for the shortening 5 stars
