2/3 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 cup coarsly grated semi-sweet chocolate
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Heat oven to 400F. In large mixer bowl combine sugar, butter, egg, salt, and vanilla. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until mixture is light and fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes. Add flour and coarsly grated semi-sweet chocolate. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed, 2 to 3 minutes. If dough is too soft, cover and refrigerate until firm enough to form cookies, 30 to 45 minutes. Place dough in cookie press. Form desired shapes 1 inch apart on cookie sheets. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

Modified the recipe as follows:
1/3 C. sugar
1/3 C. brown sugar
1/2 C. grated semi-sweet chocolate
Cookies are flavorful and moist. The brown sugar helps give it the flavor most people associate with chocolate chip cookies. 5 stars

These are great. Just like the ones my Mom made when I was a kid. I'm going to frost them lightly. They go great in a bowl of ice cream as well. Careful not to overbake as being chocolate you might notice after the fact... 4 stars

For those that found them doughy, its because you didnt bake them long enough.. Sometimes it takes longer in different ovens etc. 5 stars

I tried these and they didn't turn out well. Though I followed the recipe exactly, they turned out doughy and tasted strongly of flour. Possibly not enough sugar? 1 star

good cookie but I grated the chocolate too finely...so make sure you grate it coarsely like suggested. I am going to try again. And the dough is soft but I put it in the fridge for about 10 minutes and it was fine. I love the cookie press. 5 stars
