Traditional German Christmas cookie
6 eggs
1 pound powdered sugar
1 teaspoon anise flavoring
4 cups sifted flour
Beat eggs for 7 minutes. Add powdered sugar and beat another 7 minutes. Add flavoring and flour and beat 7 more minutes. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheets, cover them with a thin cloth, and let them stand overnight or for 8 hours. Preheat oven to 350F and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.

Would make this again.
I was searching for a anise cookie that my grandmother made. I'm not sure I found it but this recipe is very close. Maybe it was the wood stove that helped or just an old fasioned recipe. lap
